Warning for spoilers for both canons. Like whoa.
Warnings for violence mentions, violence, bigotry, hatred, war, did I mention violence? Because this PSL will include Strongbow and Katniss in the same woods. PTSD. And, you know, violence.

Her arrow flew true and what she hit fell, but oddly the sound had been off. Like her arrow had struck hollow light weight metal more then flesh. And there was a pulling sound, like a chain winch lifting something that started as the creature fell.
Behind her, back the way she came, the grass she had walked over was gone now. In its place was a shallow but wide bowl in the earth. It must go as far as the edge of the water that had been a special place for her and her father.
Inside the hollow were a number of cocooned forms in all sorts of lumpy shapes. None were smaller than a small child, but some were larger than the creatures that had attacked her and Peeta at the cornucopia. There were too many of them to easily count, some stacked on others making it harder still to differentiate. But they were all perfectly still.
The air had a stale quality now, a bit musty with the tang of metal. There was a darkness that hinted of tunnel leading off to one side, but the forms blocked the way. The woods quieted. Not as much as when a hovercraft was near, more like thy way they did when a predator with four feet was stalking by. But there wasn't so much as a rustle of grass to be heard. Not at first, anyway.

Date: 2023-06-13 07:10 pm (UTC)She was never one to sit around and wait. Especially since she wanted to hunt for more food for her family. She just wasn't sure what was chasing her or hiding out in the woods watching her. That thing could die or that thing could easily kill her. Why were they in her part at all? Wasn't she done with all the running and actually having a safe and normal life? Maybe all of that was a complete lie.]
Whose there? I won't shoot anymore unless you come out of hiding.

Date: 2023-06-13 11:13 pm (UTC)She looked around for a way out of this, but it didn't seem likely. She held out her bow and started to walk slowly towards the cocoons or whatever it was... is this how Snow was going to kill her? Wouldn't surprise her in all honesty she just didn't want to go this way. She kept an ear out for anything around her, but she needed to know what this was.

Date: 2023-06-19 02:16 am (UTC)The fox-eyed being was quickly unwrapped enough that she could free herself, wriggling out as easily as a snake might shed its skin. When she got to her feet, Katniss would see that she was a person, more or less. From her face and the hint of curves her outfit mostly hid she seemed to be an adult, but she was shorter even than Prim or Rue. Half the height of an adult if that. Her too large eyes watched Katniss curiously, and her four fingered hands made no reach for the dagger at her hip. Nor the bow and quiver across her back. She just stood lightly on the balls of her feet, watching, her long tapered ears not twitching, but visible though her fiery mane.
<"Human?"> she asked in a soft lilting voice.
